Stony Stratford Riding Club - 2008
Season Summary
The 2008 season has drawn to a close for Stony Stratford Riding Club. We would like to thank everyone involved with
the club, participants, volunteers and supporters for all their time and money. The events allowed us to raise £500 for
each of the two charities, Riding for the Disabled and The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. This is a
great total despite the loss of the summer cross country event and a rain depleted second open show.
The season started well with the new show jumping derby which provided a great fun day for the 75 competitors and
spectators alike. The fences were smaller than Hickstead but the jump off tension was just as palpable. The dressage
series was well supported with over 120 different competitors contesting the 20 tests. The winners of the points
competition for each section can be seen below and in the 2008 results. Trophies are waiting for the section winners. The dressage
was interspersed with clear round show jumping. This provided a good opportunity to practice a complete round in a no
pressure environment. The open shows had mixed fortunes. The May show had reasonable entries for the normal
season opener, but a combination of Silverstone and heavy rain on show day decimated the entries on the July date. Our
special thanks to the judges, volunteers and competitors that braved the weather so we could go ahead.
