Hunter Trial - 1st April 2007

Report

The day was blessed with good weather and having resisted the temptation to play the biggest April Fool's Day joke, the gates were opened to a steady stream of lorries and trailers. It had been a fair while since Plum Park Farm had seen such an event but everythCreeking was ready despite the wet winter! A huge effort from many people saw three challenging courses prepared with virtually no shared fences. There was a totally revamped creek to cross complete with new bridge if it all proved too much. There were at least twenty other new fences all dressed up for the occasion. A popular new feature was a small course of 1'6" fences in a single field which provided all the variety of the bigger courses, which 40 entrants had a great CROSS COUNTRY introduction. The bigger courses all followed a course around the farm. All three courses were challenging with good combinations required for a clear round. Two hundred and fifty entrants set off to conquer the courses over going that could not have been better. As usual the Plum Park tradition of people being able to complete rounds despite the odd problem, hopefully meant that everyone had their time in the sun. Most prizes were given out on the day but those that were not were sent out quickly afterwards so all should have received them by now. We were going to post the results up on the website but we could not get this done in a timely fashion so apologies for that. We hope everybody who came enjoyed themselves. The fences are available for cross country schooling. Some have been moved so they are predominantly in three fields along with two new corners and three new ditches! The 1'6" course is also staying in place for the summer so please book now to have some fun.

The last note is to thank all the volunteers who worked so hard before and on the day to make it a success. It cannot happen without the goodwill and help from many people to make these events happen.

We were however short of people to help in the afternoon. We are trying to split jobs up so helpers do not have to toil away for hours but this requires even more people, so please VOLUNTEER. The club will only go from strength to strength as a cooperative so please give a few hours if you can.
