Stony Stratford Riding Club - 2008
Welcome to Stony Stratford Riding Club for the season of 2008. Firstly from the 2007 season the club was buoyant enough to make a significant donation to the Northants Air Ambulance. This was great news and thanks to all the people who helped run all the events and all the competitors whose entries do go to a good cause. This year we have decided to split the money raised for charity between the air ambulance and the riding for the disabled. We are sure that these two good causes are worth supporting which a good season will allow even more money to be raised.
Thankfully Brian and Debbie Temple at Plum Park Farm have kindly agreed for the riding club to be based at their farm again which we hope if you competed there you would agree made a super venue for all the events held. We are very grateful to them and the livestock for giving up their grazing for these activities. It also allows a widening of the programme of events that the club can hold. This is reflected in the calendar of events. There will only be two Open Shows this year, the May Opener and the mid season July date. Additions include a show jumping derby which will include a bank, devil’s dyke and water although not quite the size of Hickstead. There are more summer evening dressage dates interspersed with some clear round show jumping dates. As always with SSRC these are designed to be low pressure fun days when young horses or nervous riders can be introduced to the ring. A cross country event is planned for the start of the summer holiday season. This is in addition to the two cross country events held by Plum Park, a good season opener on the 6th April and a season swansong on the 5th October.
The only other change is administratively. The club now has it’s own telephone and all enquiries or queries should be directed to it. The number is 07958 557878.
